Mrs. Froedge is in her tenth year as Director of Bands at North Middle School and Assistant Director at North Hardin High School. She has over 180 students from grades sixthrough eight enrolled in the North Middle School program, over 30% of the student population. Mrs. Froedge received a B.A. in Music Education from the University of Kentucky. While at UK,
she served as the CMENC president and performed in the UK Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. She studied clarinet performance with Dr. Scott Wright, and studied a semester of
bassoon with Professor Peter Simpson. In 2010, she was awarded the George Hurst Memorial Scholarship for her advocacy for music education and graduated magna cum laud.
Under Mrs. Froedge’s direction, the North Middle School Band has consistently received distinguished ratings at KMEA Concert Band Festival. Her students have earned distinguished ratings at KMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival and actively participate in honors bands. The North Middle Symphonic band was an invited performance ensemble at the KMEA State Convention in 2014, and was selected as one of five middle school bands to perform at Music for All’s National Middle School Festival in 2015. North Middle Band has consistently had the highest amount of students selected to the Fourth District All-District Middle School Bands for the past nine years. During her tenure as assistant director, the North Hardin band has performed at the Music for All Festival 2011, KMEA In-Service conference in 2012 and 2017, and the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in 2015.
Mrs. Froedge’s professional affiliations include MENC, KMEA, KEA and NEA. In 2013, Mrs. Froedge was awarded the Middle School Director of the Year from the Fourth District. At the 2015 KMEA Conference, she was awarded the Outstanding Young Band Director Award by Phi Beta Mu. Mrs. Froedge has been invited as a clinician in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Arizona for middle school honor bands. She has served on the board of directors for the Heartland Winds Community Band, and as a district officer for KMEA.
